John R. Maynard is Professor Emeritus of English at NYU, where he served as chair for six years. He earned his B.A. (summa) and Ph.D. from Harvard. A Guggenheim Fellow and National Endowment for the Humanities Grantee, he is the recipient of the Thomas J. Wilson Book Prize and an Albert Nelson Lifetime Achievement Award from Marquis Who’s Who. A member of P.E.N., he has dedicated his professional life since retirement to writing and editing his profound poetry.
